Mail correspondence with Kees van der Staaij, chairman of the SGP parliamentary group

Dear Mr Van der Staaij,

Recently, you have received the following letter from our group of practitioners. A few months ago, we already had a Zoom discussion with you about the horrific injustice of organised sadistic (child) abuse in our country, We discussed the great importance of truly independent investigation, now that the legal process of victims seems to be structurally torpedoed and the 'soapbox', as Mr Grapperhaus suggested (committee debate J&V of 16 September), leads to prosecution for slander and libel.

You indicated that you see the urgency of an independent investigation. You also indicated that you understand why this investigation cannot be done by the Justice Department, as many victims have been indicating time and again for decades that high officials of the Justice Department, among others, are part of the problem.

Meanwhile, partly as a result of the fire letter below, Mr van Meijeren has taken the initiative to submit a new motion to set up a truly independent investigation. Given the great importance of this motion for child and adult victims of this horrific injustice, and given the great importance of this investigation for our state under the rule of law, we would like to speak to you again about this. As Christians, we have a duty to break through walls of injustice, even if the movers of the motion now fail to do so. We sincerely hope to find you on our side as our representative and as a representative of Christ.

We urge you to have a discussion about this at short notice. We are prepared to come to The Hague for this. A zoom appointment is also possible.

We look forward to hearing from you.

yours sincerely,

Dear Mrs Terpstra,

Thank you for your e-mail.

Your written input is clear!

Several colleagues have taken the lead in this, as you rightly point out.

I can't make it to a meeting in the short term because of my busy schedule, but

If we have any additional questions, we will be happy to get in touch.

Kind regards,

Kees van der Staaij

Dear Mr Van der Staaij,

Thank you for your response.

Mr van Meijeren has taken the lead in this, but we would urge you to support him in this. The current investigation - as we have substantiated extensively - is certainly not independent of the Ministry of Justice and therefore has no chance of success. This is no time to give victims another run for their money. We need a place where victims - including those who tell about abuse in high places - dare to talk. That does not exist now.

In our personal conversation, you demonstrated that you understand the seriousness of the situation, both for the victims and for the rule of law. We would therefore like to ask you - also in reference to your religious conviction in which you stand for truth and love - to stick your neck out for those who are suffering under this extreme injustice and to co-sign this motion.

I would like your prompt reply,

Kind regards,

Aline Terpstra,
